Canterbury has several striking specimens of Oriental Plane – each with distortions to the swollen bark on the trunk which appear to be (but are not) seriously diseased.
One such tree can be seen in the cathedral precincts, not far from the Son of Man statue. Note its apparently swollen trunk (Image 1) and also the bulges in its bark (Image 2).
