Entitled ‘Pebble’ and described as an ‘Italian riverbed in porphyry stone’, this is the work of London sculptor and calligrapher John Das Gupta. It lies not far from the Kent War memorial cross.
The text is taken from the notebook of Nicholas Heiney, son of writers and broadcasters Libby Purvis and Paul Heiney, Nicholas, sadly, took his own life in 2005 aged 23 years.
The image of the stone appears in the Letter Art Press at: https://www.letteringartstrust.org.uk/artists/browse/john-das-gupta
