The images below are from postcards, kindly made available by Derek Butler. The first colour image shows Tower House and gardens in the 1930s before demolition of one of the wings. The next postcard shows the demolition. The fourth postcard was franked 1942 and the writer wrote that they had escaped the bombs by a miracle. In January 2025 The Canterbury Society announced that Tower House has been listed as an asset of Community Value (ACV). The listing afford the opportunity to safeguard its future use, giving local groups the chance to step forward should the property ever be put up for sale. From civic events to informal gatherings, Tower House has long been a cherished part of Canterbury’s heritage, and this designation solidifies its place at the heart of Canterbury’s social life.
