Description
A type of medieval timber-framed house incorporating a hall was the Wealden house. This was particularly found in the south-east of England, and so called due to its frequent appearance in the Weald of Kent. Typically the central open hall is flanked by bays of two storeys on either side. Look for jetties on both sides, set back central section, but continuous eaves at the same level across the front.
